Jaded People
We as a human race are funny. Not funny haha but funny ironic I guess. No where else in the animal kingdom will you find a species that behaves like we do. Anywhere else if an animal gets treated poorly it will shy away from the thing that did that. Not we humans. All it takes is one little emotion and we become stuck on stupid. The emotion is love. Let us fall in love with someone and we are willing to deal with a lot more disrespect and pain then we would from a complete stranger. The opposite should be true. If both parties love each other they shouldn’t want to hurt each other, they should want to protect each other from pain. It’s quite possible I have only had disfunctional relationships, however I’m not alone. There are numerous songs and court cases a day about what happens when people get treated wrong by the one(s) they love. We kill those that we love on a daily basis, not always physically but we do cut them deep enough emotionally to cause them to be scared for life. It isn’t always intentional, many times we are too jaded to be in a relationship when we get involved with them and push them away before they hurt us. Not giving them a fair chance to show us that they have no intention on treating us like the people in our past have.
I’ve been there many times before, now that I realize how jaded I am I try to tell people that I’m not ready for a relationship and they want to know what’s wrong with them. When someone comes into our life and tells us all they want is friendship why does it have to be there is something wrong with us. Why can’t it just simply be that friendship is good enough? Friendship is one of the best foundations to a relationship. If someone tells us “look I’m not ready for a relationship right now” why do we push them to be? Do we put ourselves into situations that we will inevitably get hurt by just so that we have an excuse to push others away? When does this cycle end? If you hurt only 3 people because of what one person did to you and those 3 people each hurt 3 more people because of what you did to them, how soon before the entire earth is covered with scorned loved ones? What if you prevented that person from hurting you by backing off when they showed or told you that they weren’t ready to commit themselves to more than friendship? Do you have the courage to end the cycle? Would you have the courage if you knew that your actions today could cause your kids to be jaded tomorrow?
