What is the ideal type of paint to use for decoration of a small wood-like statue?
I bought a small decorative rooster from a small shop near my home. I don’t know exactly what the material is that it’s made of, but it’s very similar to wood. I was going to paint it black, but I’ve done things like this before with many failures because I used the wrong paint. I need to know what is a type of paint that will leave this completely colored, and thickly painted with no leaking. Something that will paint over the rooster and not allow any of the current colors to show through. Does anyone know how to help me?

Use a lacquer. If painting over another color, then first seal it with lacquer primer or urethane.
